Should people continue to buy shark's fin soup? Explain why.

Lai Sze said...: Yes and no. The reason I said yes is because it is nice.Another reason is that if we hunt for shark's fin,there will be lesser sharks. If we go swimming at the sea, less people will be attack or eaten by the sharks as there will be lesser sharks.The reason I said no is because if we kill sharks just for their fins,they will go extinct.It will go extinct beacuse we killed the sharks and the sharks can't reproduce.And another reason is that sharks is a animals,it is a living thing and it is the same as us, they only have one life.

In order to cook shark's fin shoup, fishermen have to catch them, cut their fins and then throw them in thr sea/river. When we eat shark's fin shoup, it is actually tasteless. Also, when the sharks' fins get cut off, the place where their fins are supposed to be will have blood, and when they are thrown into the river, the blood will polute the sea and the fishes may die too, because of the blood pollution.
If people continue to buy sharks' fin shoup, the sharks may get endaged in the future and be extinct too.

I think that what they do is just too cruel. There was once somebody who told me that a store owner of a restuarant,actually sold shark's fin soup but he did not use shark's fin and nobody realised but it was reported afterwards.

Anyway,even if the restaurants take away shark fin soup off the menu, they may earn less money but at least they did thier part for the enviroment!but I do think dat maybe they can put fake shark fin soup on the menu.i mean,like,so what?they taste the same to me!!;)

There are also people that say that the decrease might be due to some other harmful activities such as over-fishing and of course the shark fin soup lovers might say that it might not be the type off shark that they use for shark fin soup or if it is just all sharks
in general.
Sharks are still an endangered species so we might drive them to extinction if we keep on eating shark fin soup

Sharks eats squids that are deep under the sea. So, if sharks are all extinct, who would eat all those squids? The squid's population would increase and that is not a good sign for the fishes in the sea as they would die.

I question that statement made, every shark counts. With more sharks, more sharks could reproduce and thus may guadually increase. Killing sharks for their fin, thus making them extinct, would greatly affect the ecosystem. prey of sharks would rapidly multiple with no predator to control their number.

But we all must remember, all sharks are animals, they have feelings too, even if they dont show it. I always believe that we must conserve animals, when they go extinct we will regret it. Our kids, grandkids or even our great grandkids wouldn't be able to see these magestic animals. Sailors hunted the dodo bird for their meat, like the sharks, and they got extinct, thus, we all couldnt even see them alive now, only in museums we hear about the dodos story. If we dont put in effort to conserve the sharks now, the next time our kids, grandkids or great grandkids could only see the sharks in the museum. And people like us will feel guilty, and think " why havent we stop killing them for their meat when we had the chance to? We were the cause of the extinction of the sharks! Sharks fin soup should be taken off the menus of restaurants, we should not buy sharks fin soup either because that would be promoting the killing of sharks for their fins; July 3, 2012 at 12:13 PM
