i think they should get a higher salary as they haved worked very hard for 24 hrs a day and every week of the year.it should be very tiring as the bus is so big and they need to ensure the safety of all the passengers on the bus.Other than that,some drivers have an extended families,hence they need a higher salary compared to other bus drivers.the bus company should also klet the drivers work in shifts rather than 24 hrs straight.the bus company should also buy the drivers meals to let them save on that.

Yes,I think bus drivers deserve to earn a higher salary as being a bus driver is actually a very tiring job as you must drive along the road from morning till night and when you are driving,you can't like walk around you must sit there and you canonly walk when you reach the interchange after parking the bus. Bus drivers also must help the handicap on the bus. Bus drivers also must have alot of patience as they may get caught in a traffic jam during peak hours.

I think bus drivers deserve to earn a higher salary because they work for a long time yet they do not have much salary for themselves and their families.Bus drivers have to follow the road from morning till night,it is a very tiring job yet they can only take a break when they reach the interchange.Since most of us take the public bus,if we pay a little more it will help the bus drivers a lot.Bus drivers also need to have a lot of patience as most of the time they stop on all bus stops. 6 Resilience
I think the government's bus drivers deserve lesser salary as they are aggresive drivers.Several bus accidents have occured lately.They are always rushing as time is money to them.One of them had knocked down a woman which was crossing the road as that selfish bus driver wanted to earn more money.The government even force car drivers to give way to them.Those bus drivers are taking things for granted.They are like pampered adults.

When they recived all the money they earned for the day, the manger of the busses would take it all and divide them equally to all the bus drivers. I think it is kind of unfair as some bus drivers work more than the others but they still get the same amount.

I do not think that bus drivers deserve to earn a higher salary.although some bus drivers are foreginers,they have to slog their guts just to earn enough money for their family.But if they get an increase in salary,we,Singaporeans have to pay more taxes.The taxes now paid by us are costly due to high standards of living.If it continues to increase due to bus drivers and most to the government,some of us cannot afford to pay the taxes,it is too costly!!!!If their salary does not increase but remain the same,we would not have to increase on the taxes.

No,I think they don't deserve a higher salary. They caused a lot of accident causing people to be lying in the hospital beds.When staying in hospital,it cost a lot of money and people will not have enough money for the rest of their life.Not only accident,they also arrived to the bus stop very long causing people to be kate for work or school.If we are late for school,we will get punished and not the bus drivers.If we are late for work,our salary will be lesser and not the bus driver's salary.

Yes,as they help us to move from place to place quickly.Imagine if the workers go on strike and don't work.It will make people who are very busy late,late for their work and not be able to to do groceries.So we should be thankful to the drivers and give them a raise or a bonus or even give them a 1 month break.People who could drive a bus could take over thier jobs while their gone and even earn some money.Even though we would have to pay more, this would make bus drivers friendlier, tolerative and happier.That is why we should give them a raise.

i think that only careful bus bus drivers should have a higher salary because if a carelrss driver gets paid a higher salary,its like paying himextra to drive recklessly and there is a risk that pedestrians could be knocked down like the last few cases of SMRT buses where they knocked down other people.this could encourage bus drivers to drive more carefully next time.i also think that the selection of bus drivers having a higher salary should also have be in a positive attitude almost everyday and greet customers with a smile everyday,not like a nedative attitude driver,always looking out of the window when customers walk in or board the bus and don't offer helpto the elderly when they are in need of help on the bus.
Yes.Because they help us go home or anywhere we want in aircondition comfort and rest comforteble while the bus drivers have to drive us everywhere be it a long and tiring journy or a short one.Also the bus drivers try to keep the bus as clean as they can.But some people are inconsiderate and bring food or drinks up on the bus and sometimes spill their food or drink which attract mice,ants and other pesty creatures which will make the bus very dirty causing the bus driver to have another job in their hands.Also,they don`t drive like a maniac and get into an acident.They have always tried their best to keep us safe and not ruin our ride.Thats why i think bus drivers should be paid a higher wages.

Yes,they work very hard to ferry people around.They also help to prevent global warming.By taking public buses,it helps to reduce air pollution.Cars need oil and fuel to travel.If there are many cars,then more oil is needed.bus drivers can sometimes be late because of traffic jam or mishaps.But they should increase the number of buses like bus 52 and105 as they take a longer time to arrive.Although taking public transport is very troublesome,it helps to save mother earth!Abus driver must also have good drivivg skills and a good attitude towards passengers.If they do not do so,they should not be given an increase salary.A bus driver must work from day to night with very little rest.they ought to get a higher pay.bus drivers do not earn much esspecilly if they are the bread winner.they have to provide for the family.so, an increase pay for them should be done!
I take public bus home everyday.I always see that the bus drivers look exhausted.I think they have been working almost the whole day,sometimes even over time.They do this to earn more money to support their family.Sometimes,there are reports of bus drivers being very sleepy while driving.One of the bus drivers dozed off while driving a packed bus.The bus almosy crashed into a tree.Luckily,the bus driver stomped on the brakes just in time.Some passengers were thrown off their seat.Some passengers complained to the bus driver and even insisted on dropping off that very minute but the bus driver denied it.The passengers were furious.Immediately,most of the passengers dropped off the bus to take another bus.To my opinion,the reason why the bus driver was sleepy and denied the passengers from dropping off the bus is that he wanted to earnmore more money to support their family.But even if he wanted to earn more money,the passenger's safety is his responsibility.I think it depends on the bus drivers if they want to earn more money.

No,I don't think that bus drivers should have a higher salary. There are a lot of accidents lately beacuse of the bus drivers. There was a accident I recall that when an old lady was going down the bus, the bus driver close the doors and move! The people at the bus stop shouted at the bus driver in a bid to ask him to stop. But the bus just continued on its journey. I think that the bus driver is very careless. There was also an accident where the bus driver suddely stop and a lady bang her head on something hard. That is why I think that bus drivers do noy deserve a higher salary.

I think that bus drivers should have a higher pay because the bus drivers are working for the whole day and they have to often skip their lunch and dinner but they only earn a little money.While the rest of us are enjoying the cooling air from the bus's air-condition,the bus drivers have no time to enjoy it and they must be alert at all times so that they would avoid from having accidents on the road.If an accident happens,some passengers will complain to the LTA(land transport authority)and the drivers will be fired.I realised that although the drivers already have low pay,nobody spared a thought for the bus driver.I think that people should at the very least spare a thought for the driver and give extra money to the driver. lim yong kap 6 resilience
I think they should recieve mnore pay if they work longer hours and are more pleasent while driving,because one day i was waiting at the bus stop,i put out my hand to signal the bus to stop but he just drove off.Maybe he was tired or just frustrated because of his pay or personal matters.Watever the case,i tjink they should pay attention and drive safely and happily,we should pay them more if they become better and more sociable
The bus drivers should have a higher pay as they work for very long hours. The bus drivers have also been in a lot of accidents. When they have an accident for that month of salary, or year they should give them a lesser pay as the bus service needs to pay for injuried party. By cutting off they pay when they are in an accident the bus services can also recover they losses. When an elderly works at an bus service they must also have an higher pay because working at the bus they have to sit in the bus for about half an hour and can cause back problems. They having a higher pay, they can afford to see a doctor and cure they back problem or just have some medicine for them not to have back problem when they sit for long hours.

Yes.They deserve a higher salary as they work for our transport,Day and night for 24 hours,they work for us but they do not have any objection. They always work properly.They help all the elderlys on wheelchair kindly. They keep an eye on the suspicious people in the bus.They also check on tapping the ez-link card on the machine cr paying the correct amount if do not have an ez-link card.They will never harass anyone. Yes, they do. They use up their energy for the day just to drive us to our destinations. They have to clean the bus after working for a long time. And they have very short breaks, even after working for a very long time. Some even help us to tell us the way to our destinations. To me, only some deserve to earn the extra salary.
I think not all of the bus driver should deserve a higher pay because some of them are not helpful.I had an incident where one chinese and a indian guy fought with each other.The worst thing is that the bus driver sat on the driver sit and did nothing.The only thing he did was that he just continue to drive.I was think that is the driver scared or is he happy to see people fight or others.Where else the good drivers deserve the high about of pay.Some drivers are patient and some are helpful.Example,if one handicap person needs help the good driver will help but the bad ones will say can you please faster.
For my personal opinion, I dont think bus drivers deserves to earn more pay, because now a days, there are so many bus problems. Example, Bus break downs and foreign bus drivers who dosen't know how to speak proper english to explain to people who is ot sure that they're taking the right bus. Plus, bus drivers aren't suppose to earn so much muoney since its not really a hard working job to do. But, also .. SMRT should let the bus drivers to change shift more often so that it won't be so tiring for those drivers who had been working from day to night.

No, I don't think they deserve a higher salary because lately there has been many accidents. I understand the want to attract more bus drivers but they should make sure they're hiring the RIGHT type of drivers, the type that is more courteous and alert. I heard there was one incident where an old lady was dragged beneath the bus and the driver didn't realize for while. This is why I don't thinkm they should raise the salary UNLESS they are actually hiring a driver that cares.

Yes only a certain group of caring drivers should have a higher pay rise because they work for long hours that they have vey little time of sleep,they have to entertain commmuters who make lots of noise and argue with the bus drivers and the may have a back pain beccause they drive for long hours without moving around.
All of those who no need a pay rise are because they drive out of the bus bay/stop before looking to the side to see if theres any vechile coming this is dangerous cause thet might have an accident and the passengers may injure themselves, they are rude and aggresive with passengers.

No,I dont think that bus drivers deserve to earn more pay as their pay come form the gonverment.The gonverment gets his money from our taxes.Obviously it wouldnt be nice to get a bus driver from another country that cant speak proper english.Once you get a bus driver like that you will see your money given to tham for their pay.The bus drivers should be more friendly by saying 'Hi' or 'How are you?' when people boared the bus.I mean who wants a bus driver that cant speak proper english and is not friendly.Obviously we dont want to watse our taxes on bus drivers like them.The other thing is they have to wake up very early to drive the bus and they cant spend their Saturdays and Sundays going out with their family.So we need to give them respect too.

i dont think the bus drivers should deserve more pay because we wait for so long. some times there is no air con in the bus and its very squeeze, if the bus driver is polite helpfull thankfull fast and a excllent driver if the driver drives sol slow and jerky they should not put have a pleasant ride they should put have a unpleasant ride haha i think only the helpfull thankfull happy good and better driving then they will have a pleasant pay but if those people who do not care will have a unpleasant pay actually bus drivers are much much much more carefull because when school students will stand above the yellow line and the bus drivers need to wave their hands to make us notice that he is not moving because we are above the yellow line

I think they should increase their salary as they had worked from morning to night and they may not even have the time to go to the washroom. The bus drivers they always meet differnt kinds of passengers. If the bus drivers have a family, they could affort enough money for their childrens....
Mostly the bus drivers will come home late and if they have a family, the bus drivers may not even have a time to hang up with them..

I think bus drivers deserve to earn a higher salary as they transpore at least 100 people everyday. A lot of people appreciate the public bus as it is cheap. Without bus drivers, most people would only be able to get to their destination by an expensive cab ride.
I think bus drivers deserve to earn a higher salary.Because being a driver,they have to fetch many people from one place to another.It is very tiring as they may have to drive for maybe an hour to two hour without any break.They cannot have toilet breaks as well.They have to put their full attention while they are driving as the safety of the passengers on board the bus and the safety of other drivers is in their hands.
Sometimes,passengers on the bus will fight among themselves and the driver will not be able to concentrate driving.This will result in accidents to occur.Why do the bus driver not concentrate driving and why will accidents occur?When the passengers fight,they actually make alot of noise and the noise will allow the the drivers to lose their concentration.When the drivers lose concentration,they will think of stopping the fight and many thoughts will be running through their heads and when thoughts run through their heads,they will lose concentration and accidents will occur.To me,the passenger's life actually depends if they themselves will start conflicts in the bus and cause the driver to lose his or her concentration and result in accidents.
As the driver have to face many problems I think that they deserve a higher pay.

YES because driving a bus is an extremely tiring job and they have to be familiar with the road, bus stops ETC. Some of them also have to go 24 hours a day, which is non-stop! Some of them have to skip their 3 meals as they have to go to work as the boss will reprimand them if they are late.

Bus drivers work hard,day and night. So as to provide transport to the public and take them to their destinations without fail. And they hardly have time for toilet breaks,let alone their lunch and dinner if they work in the afternoon or night shift. Some drivers still wait for the children or elderly on board to settle down or sit down first before driving off to the other destination so as to prevent anyone getting injured.
Majority of them also help the passengers on board know which stop they have to alight at if they want to go to this place or that place.
Adding on that they have to clean the bus after work before letting the other driver which takes the next shift to drive the bus.

I think that the bus drivers deserve a higher salary.They have to drive on the road for very long hours and they only have 20-30 minutes to eat their lunch and relax before driving again.Once,while I was waiting for the bus,I saw a very angry-looking driver shouting at the manager before he walk to his bus.He might have been frustrated about his pay or the amount if time given for his break.
So,the manager should allow more time for the bus drivers to eat and rest so that they will be happy and not be tired,or else they might caused accident due to stress.

Bus drivers should be earning a higher pay. They drive for almost non-stop every day, from morning till late at night. Especially during the peak hours, the bus is more heavy. It takes years of skill to manouvure a bus like that!
When I was in australia for something (that's another private story), me and my mother took the bus. But we didn't know the route, so we asked the bus driver. He actually stopped the bus for about two minutes to explain to us, and the passengers didn't seem to mind!
After the bus service (back to Singapore), the bus driver has to ensure that everything is clean for the next load of passengers. Sometimes, old people goes like -hack hack cough cough then they spit on the floor. Imagine the bus driver cleaning that up!
Bus drivers a sincere to their work. They work hard everyday, and yet no one talks to them, and they feel down. Their rest time is about only 15 minutes, even less than our recess time! When we take an exam, we sit down for about maximum 1hr 40mins. (Maths paper 2). And we still cannot take it. The bus driver has to sit down non stop, endure the bumps on the road, , and press buttons, drive a long distance, help the elderly... You get the point.
This is why bus drivers need more pay.
Lennon: Yes. Their job is a hard and tiring job. They deserve a higher pay because they have to take care of the passanger's lives. Bus drivers have to work long hours to provide transport for all the passengers. They have to sit down on their chairs for long hours, not being able to move about much.
i believe that they deserve a higher salary as they sit in a chair for a hour and drive carefully to ensure the safety of all the passengers on the bus while we pay more to travel onto the buses.....

I think bus drivers should get a higher pay because the work day and night trying to make a living. I think the bus drivers employer should either shorten their work time or raise their pay. A job like a bus driver is not easy, so I strongly agree that they should get a higher pay. Besides that they are responsible if there is a breakdown. It isnt fair for the bus drivers as the help with our daily transport to work or to go to school.

Yes.They drive continously for hours with very little time to spare.Imagine driving a bus full of people for a whole day without talking to anyone and no other activities! I would be really bored...

I feel that bus drivers should have a higher salary. They work tirelessly from morning to night and have little time to eat or answer the call of nature. They also have to deal with technical difficulties such as bus breakdowns, which will affect their work. They also have to bear with the noise in the bus and have to drive safely. During the peak hour, they have to try and squeeze as many people as possible in the bus so as not to disappoint any commuters. They also have to know the way around Singapore to answer questions of commuters or tourists. Therefore, I feel that they should have a higher pay for their hard work.
Yes, I think that bus drivers deserve to earn a higher salary as they drive buses around and around and it is very tiring to just sit there and drive. Also, they will experience problems with unreasonable commuters and they have to settle it. To provide with a more comfortable ride, they do their best. And I can see that they have muscle aches due to the long period of sitting and jsut moving the steering wheel.

Bus drivers definately deserve a higher salary but just a small increment would do. They bus drivers are civil servants and work for the country. They help the community by bring people to their different destinations. They also have long working hours. And as the bus covers a lot of distance, they would need fuel and fuel is expensive. Sometimes I would see passengers scolding the driver for some reason, which the driver would have to bear with. I think even though they should get higher pay, they should not get a very large increment. As this would result in some bus drivers taking it for granted and they would start to slack. And sometimes would not care for others safety as after all they get paid very much.
Yes, I think they should get a higher salary as these community service workers have to work everyday, even on public holidays, up to late hours. They have to be extremely concentrated while working.They even have to complete the gruelsome job of cleaning the bus!they also have to put up with irritated commuters complaints
Yes. I think that bus drivers should definitely have a higher pay.Bus drivers work long hours and do not have much rest. They also have to memorise the bus stops that they have to travel to so that their passengers arrive at their desired desinations on time and happily without any extra trouble. Sometimes some tourists or some Singaporeans that are new to the bus system may take a bus for the experience to the place that they want to go and may ask the bus driver. Thus, the bus company has to pay the bus drivers more to give them a good salary to look forward to at the end of the month and carry out their job efficiently and correctly. The salary increase allows the bus company to hire more responsible people for the job. Passengers would have a more pleasent experience while taking the public transport and tourists would have a better first impression of Singapore and come back again.

I believe they should earn a higher salary because they have to spend all day diving the huge bus which is not as easy as you think. They also have to deal with any trouble that happens on the bus. which is very tiring. But above all of that, they are still very kind (well, most of them). But maybe instead of giving them a higher pay, we could make their job easier instead. For example, we could line up in an orderly manner when we get on the bus or maybe we could have extra change just incase we don't have enough money in our e-zlink and that would save time as the driver has to wait for us to find the coins in our wallet and if we do not have any coins, then we would have to ask someone for change which is really time consuming. So if we are unable to make the bus driver's job easier, they should earn a higher pay.

I feel that bus drivers deserve to earn a higher salary. Bus drivers are very important people, they help everyone in singapore by driving them to their destinations. without bus drivers, there will be no such thing as public buses and without public buses there will not be a variety of public transport to pick from. Taxis are expensive and there are not much MRT stations around so one will have to walk quite a distance to get to a nearby MRT station. Some people, like me, rely on public buses a lot, i always take the the MRT train to my tuition centre. I take the public bus to the MRT station before i can board the train and can you imagine how far i will have to walk to the MRT stations if there are no public bus!? Bus drivers really deserve to earn a higher salary as they really contribute to the community. They have to spend the whole day driving people to their destinations and some even have to put up with angry passengers that do not appreciate these helpful bus drivers. Bus drivers do deserve a whole lot.

I think bus drivers should receive a higher pay as they might be working for very long hours .Bus drivers also need to ensure the passengers are safe as in an event where they are not careful, they might cause an accident.Bus drivers can work for long hours but are they still alert and know what to do and still need to occasionally need to stop fights

In my opinion, i think that bus drivers should have a higher pay. They work all day long tirelessly, fetching passengers to and fro their destination. They sometimes even have to forgo their toilet breaks, just to earn more money for themselves. They also have the patience to wait for the elderly and disabled ones to walk up the bus slowly. They also have to keep a lookout for those dishonest ones that do not pay for their ride and just ride on the bus.
Yes i think bus drivers should get a higher pay of salary because they work all day long. They have to go to differnt places to fetch passengers. Sometimes they have to wait for people who take a long time to get in the bus because they are either old or disabled. They even have to look out for dishonest people who won't pay the bus fares. I am sure if one day we tried to be a bus driver just to see how it feels to be a bus driver we wouldn't want to do it again. I'm sure some bus drivers will just skip their toilet break or their eating break to just earn more money. I think people should always respect a bus driver as they always work so hard just to earn a little bit of money.

I think bus drivers should recieve money according to the ammount of months/years they have served the transport industry. But some drivers have a big family to feed, so these drivers should recieve more pay.
