People use Internet to search things that they want to find out.Well I use the Internet to gain some knowledge for example if I do not know a particular question I would surf in the Internet to find out.
People can't be working for 24 hours everyday as people do need rest therefore, they can spend sometime playing games. We should not play to long asas we might be short sighted? So plan your time properly or we will get strees by studies or get addicted to computer games.

I think parents should put passwords for their child's Facebook, Youtube, etc. accounts which only they know, and set an alarm for the child( e.g. the child starts going on Facebook at 4pm and an alarm goes off at 4.30pm for the child). If that doesn't work, however, parents could probably tempt them by saying e.g. they have to get 85 and above for their exams to get 2 hours worth of computer games. The best thing, however, is to set a password for the computer so that the child has no access to it when he/she turns it on.

I will set a time limit for myself to play computer because if I do not set one, I will be playing the computer for the whole entire day. I will also plan a timetable which tells me when can I play computer and when must I study. This way, I will not be too engrossed in playing computer and neglect my studies which are far more important. Besides gaming, there are many other uses of the Internet. Some of which are chatting with friend, doing online homework, watching videos, listening to music and researching for information.

Some of the few ways to take control of yourself from computer addiction is: 1. You can go outside and play instead of staying in inside like a computer worm. 2. You can play for a short while or either go do your homework or take a rest so you won't be tuckered out.The other uses of the internet are that you can surf it and gain valuble information from it as it may help you in your studies, and it also can be used to keep in touch with friends or other people through Facebook or Twitter. It also can be used to store information and turn them into a slideshow for your students(if your a teacher or someone else). And you also can play games that help you in your studies like playing the games on AsknLearn.

I can limit the amount of time i spent on the Internet. By doing this, I can ensure that I will not spent too much time on the Internet, so as to focus better on my studies. I am not trying to say that we could not use the Internet at all but we must know when to stop. Spending our time on our studies or with our family and friends is more important than spending our time on the Internet. Even if we use the Internet quite often, we must know how balance our time spent on the Internet and in the real world. Besides gaming on the Internet, we can use the Internet for doing research, going on the school's website or even chat with our friends or family members in other countries or in Singapore, we can also do many other things on the Internet.

Besides using the method that mention on the newspaper, my most convince method is that to put my homework beside me . So I will always remember that I still has homework to write.
Besides gaming the computer also has a lot of interesting uses. For example , you just need to sit on the chair and yu can get the information that you want from all over the world. Another example is the when you are typing on to the keyboard you don’t need correction tape and pen . You can save as many things as you want . Also you can send email to yo friend, most message free. So besides gaming , the computer also has a lot of other uses too!

Computer addiction happens when you can think of nothing else but being at the computer. The addiction causes you to be away from the world itself. What I mean is that if you are addicted to the computer, you will not be aware of what is happening around you.

You should think about how the computer can affect your eyes. The computer can make your eyesight bad if you play games or watch videos on the computer most of the time or look at the computer too closely.

I think you should not spend more than 2 hours on the computer per day. There should be a 10 minutes break for every 40 minutes use.

Ethan Sim 5 Respect said...

You can try to play the computer only once or twice a week or set a time limit for playing the computer which is not too long not too short. We can also use the computer for study research or shopping online.

I think I am not addicted to computer because I do not think of being at the computer all the time. I use my spare time on other things like reading a book, drawing, playing board games with my sister and having conversations with my parents.

The internet is also useful to check for things that you do not know like how a flower turns into a fruit. My mother also limit my time on the computer so I do not have to worry about computer addiction!

I restrain myself not to use the computer to long as I might get myopia .After using the computer for forty minutes ,I would rest for thirty minutes by massaging my eyes ,looking at objects that are far away from me etc.the internet is dangerous because it is a place for the uncontrolled people to transmit inappropriate information on it .Other than gaming addiction , the internet is used for different purposes like:Posting illegal information ,posting unpleasant comments etc.

Faithe Wong 5 Graciousness said...

To prevent computer addiction, I stay away from the computer. I occupy myself by doing other activities like: reading, drawing, going out to play, talking with friends on the phone (but mind you, not too long), painting and so forth. I usually limit myself to about 30 minutes and I only play it on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. I don’t play longer than 30 minutes but if you do, I suggest you take a 5 minutes break after 30 minutes. If you are forgetful and always forget the time, you could ask someone to call you when 30 minutes is over. If you don’t have anyone at home, you could set a timer or your alarm clock to ring 30 minutes later.
The Internet was originally meant for researching, not playing. This is its main purpose. There are also other purposes, example:
1) Communicating to other people
2) Finding the meaning of words (from the dictionary), images, and activities to do...
3) Spreading news
4) Weather forecasting
5) Printing articles, images, newspaper clippings and others.
6) Sharing information to help others
These are only some of the purposes the Internet is for.
You see, the Internet can be a great resource if we use it the right way so let’s use it wisely! 

To avoid being addicted to the Internet, I will take note of the time when I start. Then I will use the Internet for one hour straight or else half and hour. If I use the Internet for half an hour, I can use the Internet for another half an hour at a different time.
Another way that I use to avoid being addicted is to control the number of websites I go. For example, I go up to five websites when I am using the Internet.
What are other uses of the Internet besides gaming? Some other common examples are sending emails, chatting on voice and video, conferencing, transferring files and documents and browsing the different websites in the Internet.

If I were a computer addict, I will try my best to stay away from the computer. But how?(Here are some examples below)
1) spend more times outdoors
2) do some more work
3) play handheld gmes or card games other than electronic games
Being a computer addict is very bad. Why?
1) you will not be able to finish most of your homework.
2) you cannot concentrate on your work
3) you will find it very hard to pay attention to what the teacher is teaching as your mind will be either thinking when will be the right time to fall asleep or thinking of your computer game
Besides gaming, the other uses of the Internet are:
1) For researching
2) for blogging
3) for chatting
Thanks^^

Usually, I don't play on the computer for more than forty minutes, so I can control myself from Internet addiction. We can control ourselves from playing on the computer for a very long time. Playing on the computer for a very long time will not only hurt your eyes but you will get tired easily because the light from the computer is harmful and glaring. Besides gaming, most working adults use the Internet for work. And some students use it for researches and e-Learning. But, usually teenagers use the Internet to surf social-networking sites, e.g. Facebook; Twitter. Young children play games.

Clarence Yeo 5 Graciousness said...

For every week,I will set a fixed amount of time to play games. For example, before I start playing,I will set the alarm clock. When it rings,I will stop playing and continue with my other activities. For example, besides playing sports,I will also play card games, read interesting story books like The Hobbit and The Legend of the Guardians.Besides gaming, the Internet can also be used to search facts, listen to music, can be used to blog and can be used to communicate with other people. The dangers of the Internet is that the things that are posted are not true, there are also cases that people cyber bully each other. Some cases are so serious that the victims need to be counseled.

I think that we should not use the computer too often to play games as it might turn into addiction and damage to your eyesight. To prevent it, we should not play it all the time, but play it in moderation and not all the time. It also can be used in other ways like searching for information, reading e-books, buying things online, blogging, watching videos, etc.
And I think that if we got addicted to violent games, we may start to kill people too.

• Turn off email notifications, subscriptions or anything else that may turn your attention to the Internet.
• Make a list of reasons why you will be happier when you use the internet less.
• Remember to take breaks to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, and take care of your hygiene.
• Try to stay off websites that are addictive. If you have problems getting off of these sites, just have someone else block these sites using your built in Content Advisor or if you are using Windows Vista, use the parental controls to control internet access and time on computer.
• If you need to look up a topic, do it as fast as you can, but don't sit down. Stand up the entire time you're browsing, and don't allow yourself to sit down.
• Regulate your sleeping pattern. A lot of people lose sleep while on the internet and mess up their sleeping pattern. It will be beneficial to you as you will become more organized and self disciplined.
• Think about the money you will save without having internet.
• If there are pages which you look at constantly for information, simply copy all the text and save it in a file, or even print it off. This will stop you from using the Internet so often, and it will stop you from drifting to another page.
• Every time you log on to different sites, set yourself a timer, and a small list of what you want to do within that time, and then try and make yourself log off when the time is up. Do this constantly, but try to reduce the amount of time you are on the page by 5 minutes each time.
• Try using the computer at the library. You won't be as tempted to look at certain websites (such as porn, etc.)and they do have a limit on how long you can stay online. Also, the library is a good place to get some good books and magazines to read, so you won't be as tempted to be on the Internet at home.
• Get your friends and family to help by reminding you when you have been on a long time.
• If you plan on quitting the Internet forever, do not think about doing anything with the internet.
• Cancel your internet connection or get rid of your computer
Besides gaming, one may blog, listen to music, chat with friends and even read.

To not have computer addiction for us we can buy some interesting books to read or ask our parents to bring us outdoors to play. Parents can also let their children play for a while (20-30 min) as most say, ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Children will also get stressed up no work will be done. But for me, I think that it will be more worth it spending the time to have family bonding. Parents can also take out the guest button if the children are using the computer secretly so that the children cannot play the computer. Using too much of the computer will make you lose your good eye sight .We use the computer to go to YouTube or do some school research.

Whenever I play the computer, I will check the time repeatedly. But whenever I lose track of time, I will feel guilty and tell myself to not do it again. When we are using the Internet we are not only wasting our time, but our eyesight may be worsening too. By not surfing the Internet too regularly, we are not only saving our precious time, but we are also saving money by not getting new spectacles. There are many other ways we can surf the net when we feel bored. E.g. Going to AsknLearn to do the exercises they give, rather than going to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to chat. So, to conclude, we are wasting our time by surfing the net and time is very precious!

I usually play computer a lot of times like 4-6h a day but sometimes I will restrain my self from playing computer games. My parents lock the computer with a password so I cannot go in but sometimes I can get in
The two ways I help myself restrain from the urge of the computer are very simple I will show you below here:
1)Think about other things you can do,not only computer games. examples are like taking a walk witch I do not do much and riding a bicycle or other things around a park or somewhere else.
2)Think about the disadvantages a computer will give you.Do you want it to happen to you? Think about it.
Those are the two reasons that I use to control my computer habits, although I do not really try hard enough to restrain myself as I get bored very easily and it causes me to play computer.
Some other uses of the internet besides gaming are mostly surfing the web for a lot facts or things that you like. But remember there are more, you can also use it to do some blogging like what I am doing right now, you can also use it to do your typing or do school projects in "Microsoft". For me personally I like to watch videos on "Youtube" next to playing computer games.
That is the end of it so I hope somebody reads it and finds it interesting.BYE!

For me, I do not use the computer from Mondays to Fridays unless I need to do homework. On Saturdays and school holidays, I would use the computer to watch some shows, about 1 and a half hour which I will continue if I have time.(Well 1 episode is 1 and a half hours… and don’t worry, I do take a break.) So, as to keep myself from being addicted to the videos I would constantly remind myself to rest my eyes, as I do not want to get shortsighted. If I use the computer for a long time I would also go and study my English and Math as in P5 the level of difficulty rose quite more compared when the level of difficulty rose from P3 to P4. Other uses include…
1) Using it to communicate with your long lost friend, your grandparents who lives far away and etc.
2) Check the meaning of the word online. (Dictionary)
3) To do research for homework.
4) To do online shopping. (Most famously is Qoo10 or Gmarket.)

I think that parents should set a time limit of 30-45 minutes on the computer almost every day so the chances of myopia would be little.Parents should also set passwords on their computers so that their kid(s) can only use the computer when they are around. My parents only let me use the computer when I have bathed, ate my dinner and done my homework,I think it is also a good way to cut down the amount of time spent on the computer(if you don't have time to use the computer after doing those things, too bad, you cannot use the computer),they should set a time when the computer cannot be used anymore for gaming purposes e.g. no using of computer after 9 p.m.

Computer addiction can be devastating to a person's life. Relationships can be destroyed, grades can slip, and careers can be lost all due to computer addiction. Computer addiction is striking all kinds of people, adhering to no boundaries of age, race, gender, or income. Computer addicts spend an excessive amount of time on the computer. Some computer addicts spend their time playing video games while others will gamble, chat online, surf the internet, or frequent social networking sites and forums. These activities are generally unobtrusive in moderation, but a computer addict will perform these activities for hours a day, neglecting all or most responsibilities. As with any other type of addiction, prevention of computer addiction is the best medicine.

Instructions
How to Prevent Computer Addiction

1
Place reasonable limits on computer usage. Nearly all activities are healthy in moderation. Decide what a reasonable time based upon your daily schedule. In the case of children, an hour on school days and two hours on weekends are reasonable limits.

2
Adhere to your imposed computer usage limits. Computer addiction starts by pushing the proverbial envelope and spending longer than originally intended on the computer. Soon enough, a few extra minutes on the computer transforms to a few extra hours.
3
Consider why you are using the computer if your usage becomes excessive. Boredom, anxiety, and depression are common reasons to overuse the computer. Work through these emotions if this is true in your case.

4
Seek assistance as soon as you realize that you are unable to properly control your computer usage. Early intervention can prevent a serious addiction from developing.

You could like read a book or you could plan a timetable. Many people knows when to start playing computer games but do not know when to stop. You should give yourself like 1 hour to play, after 1 hour, you have to stop.
You could watch videos, research something or look for pictures that u need in the internet.Using the computer can do lots of useful things. Gaming forever can control your life.

To control myself from computer addiction, I will set a time limit for myself. After about thirty to forty minutes, I will take a rest and go outside to take a walk or do some homework. I can also put my homework while gaming online so that I can always remind myself that I have homework to do and I would not need to waste time looking for my homework or getting distracted by other things. Besides gaming, I can also use the Internet to search for information for projects and do online homework on Asknlearn. I can also communicate with my friends through Email and Facebook.

There are many ways for us to control ourselves from computer addiction. Instead of facing the screen of your laptop all day, why not do some outdoor activities and relaxing activities? For example, reading, sleeping, playing badminton, singing , listening to music and many other interesting activities under the hot sun. I usually use the computer for project researches, look for the meaning of some words, check out the weather forcast, etc... The internet is also for us to know what is happening around us and let us express our feelings when we are in a bad mood on the blog. Speaking about it, sorry Mrs Ong but I won't be able to share with you my blog as I would like to keep it private, Infact, no one knows my blog website!
However, for me, I never like playing computer games. I believe that computer games are just a waste of my time and I would rather read a book than waste my time playing computer games. Everyone had misused the internet. The internet is not for playing games. If any of you remembered the tragic incident that happened a week ago involving 2 boys, let me tell you one example of how people misused the internet.
Some rude internet users actually posted gruesome photos of the two boys after the incident. I really feel like giving them a scolding. Did they even think of how the parents would have felt upon seeing the gruesome photos? What if the two boys were your son? How would you have felt? If any of you sees those gruesome photos, please comment on the post and ask the person to remove it. Thank you :D

The computer should not be taken for granted. Computer addiction is caused by uncontrolled computer usage by a child.
To me I think the best way to control computer addiction is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Prevention is better than cure. However, if one is already a computer addict, simple activities like hanging out with friends or going to the movies can ease the urge to use the computer, maybe even cure one's computer addiction completely.
Computer addiction is mostly due to online gaming. What computer addicts think is that the computer can only be used for online gaming, when the truth is that the Internet also can be used for learning and homework help. Due to the misusing of computers, computer addicts forgot that the computer has many different uses and forgot, that online gaming is only a form of entertainment.

Other than the method mentioned in the article, you could engage in more outdoor activities and set a time limit every day for playing the computer. You could also do homework or sleep to keep you occupied and not bored.
There are many uses of the internet, both good and bad. The benefits are that if you want to know about something fast, you can search the internet for it. If it is a picture you need, the internet may have it but if there is no such thing as internet, you may have to look everywhere for it. The disadvantages of the internet other than getting addicted to online games are you might get myopia; people might post disgusting photos or videos in the internet and post illegal information.

As you know the younger generations tend to use the computer to play game for countless of hours. In my opinion i think they do not know ways to overcome their addiction. So,the way to control their addiction is. They should play for thirty minutes only then rest their eyes for fifteen minutes or longer.During their "break"time instead of watching the television or lazing around. They should do something useful like do their homework, read a book or just do outdoors activities.

1)Spending time with your boyfriend,girlfriend,etc.
2)Spend more time outdoors,in the garden,etc.

I don't really use the computer. If I need to use the computer to research or do go to asknlearn, I will either time myself or ask my parents to ask me to rest my eyes after 30 minutes. Spending too much time staring at the computer is harmful to our eyes. We should spend more time outdoors, resting our eyes to prevent myopia. I normally spend more time:

1. Reading
2. Drawing
3. Playing outdoors
4. Playing the piano

We can use the internet to have Facebook, Twitter, research and to comment on the internet etc. It is alright to use the computer but we must limit our time. To me gaming is not fun at all. I advise all us to take care of our eyes and limit the time spent using the computer.
