Long Bus Routes may be Scrapped LRD pg 4

Which do you think is better: Keep the long bus journeys which are cheaper but may mean a longer wait, or cut the journeys in half which costs more but may shorten waiting time? Explain why.

I think keeping the long bus journeys are better because its cheap.I don't mind the wait as long it can reach me to my destination safely.

I think takingthe longer busis better because you can keep more money but sometimes you need to wait very long.I like to take longer bus because i can enjoy the air-con for a few hours for free.It is relaxing. You can also enjoy the scenery by taking the long bus.If you take two bus it will shorten the time but you have to wait very long it will waste time by waititng. They should make the bus move faster. It will be good if the bus is fast.If you take two buses it will be more expensive.

It depends on how much more expensive and if it is just a little bit more expensive then I will choose the 2nd choice.

I will say keeping the bus journey which are cheaper but may mean a longer wait is better because,if some people are sleepy and when they got home they need to study, this is a good chance because they can rest or sleep in the bus and maybe it is free or just pay alittle of money. If some people are abit broke, they only need to spend lesser money on it by taking the bus. Some people are patient. They can wait as long as possible. Most of the people want to save money and some are money face. ans:I think we should keep the long bus routes.....its ok when the waiting time is long but at least it is cheaper. If we cut the long bus routes we will have to take many buses to transfer other very far place and it will be a waste of time....but if you in a hurry you have to transfer many buses so that you will not wait long Cindy 4G

I think taking the shorter route is better because if people are rushing somewhere they can reach the place fast .If there is an emergency for someone it will be helpful .Also it will be convenient for people who want to reach home fast can reach in time.Even though it is expensive it is still convenient. And it will be very good if we still keep the short bus route .I think mantaining it will be a good idea.it will be good if we mantain this route. raphael 4g

I prefer both because if there are long journeys ,I can play my handphone, listen to music ,play DS or read a storybook. But sometimes when I take long journeys,I might get dizzy.Sometimes when there are short journeys, i might feel bored or when i play my handphone ,listen to music, play DS or read a storybook,i am about to finish it then i reach my stop.So it is much better with long journeys.Actually,i am fine with how much it cost because at least i can reach my destination. So they are fine to me.

I think splitting cross-country bus services will bring benifites to the commuters who travel's one end to another end of Singapore.Due to, increased traffic volume along the route there are every possibility reliability in bus arrival timings.Commuters hove to live their home and work place early to reach their destination.with the introduction of new MRT circle line braking the long journey bus route is ideal opportunity to review changes in the bus services.

I think they want to stop the long bus journeys because they do not want people to wait so long because of this. And maybe they have to wait from 45 minutes to 1 hour. And maybe the buses are slow because the buses are much bigger than the short bus journeys. Most of the people in Singapore choose the short bus journeys as the journeys are shorter but very costly. The do not have to wait for the buses to long 5 to 10 minutes would be enough for the short bus journeys.I also think that people choose things because of the time of wait.

i think we should choose faster because if we have to rush we have to take the fast bus to rush to the place where you have to go to.And plus if you want to go to a fun place than you will be excited and if it is to slow you will be aggresive and be irritated. The fast bus would take you faster to one place to another.and it will be very fast to rach a place.

I don't think we should scrapped because the bus trip is long and comfortable because the trip allows us to see the environment and expolre the places that the buses past by.If they scrapped the trips,if there is someone that needs to go to another place on the other site of singapore, they rely on the buses to take them there. The buses service only cost very little and many people who do not have money to buy a car can also rely on them.So why should we scrapped the bus routes?

I think should be scrapped because some people are late for work because long bus routes.Sometimes,it is not only the long bus routes, people have no sits to sit on.People pretend to sleep. They sleep just to make people think they are sleeping.Sometimes,a long bus route takes about 2 hours.

I think it is better to scrap long bus routes. As there are more MRT circle line open and it is very convenient for commuters to transfer from one place to another without any interruption traffic condition. And the goverment shoulod reduce the cost of bus fares if the commuters want to take two journeys instead of one.We can also save oupr earth by cutting air pollution that was make by the vehicle.

Long bus routes may be scrapped
I would think its better to choose both of it, because some people might admire the scenery and rest while waiting the long rides to their destination and some people would rush to places if they are late for something or its an emergency to go to a clinic. There might be tourists willing to go to somewhere attractive in Singapore and not to waste their day taking long bus trips. But some people do not like it when bus trips are expensive while some people do not mind how high the price goes. There are different buses with different bus numbers. The buses go to different routes. Some people like going to buses taking a long time to reach their destination, but some take another bus which take a different bus which goes to a same destination but shorter time to reach there. I prefer long bus routes because it is cheaper and we should wait paitently. All the more it must be long bus routes. So people can learn to wait paitently.I know it is something like "buy time".It is better. When it is raining, you can just take out your umbrella.just remember to bring umbrella everyday in case it rains. That is why I think long bus routes is better.:)

i think that keeping the long bus journey will be better because long bus journeys will be cheaper and do not have to take two buses there.even though when we take two buses it cost lesser but it will be better.it will cost a bit lesser only if we take two buses.then, when we take two buses we will wait for a longer time.so let's take the longer bus

sofea adrianna 4 peace said...

i think iwould like to keep the long bus journeys which are cheaper but it may mean a longer wait.if it has no air-cons,probrably i would prefer the second option.but i would not simply complain about the air-cons.school children may sometimes be late for school because taking a bus and not taking other buses will waste or kill time.if they take 2 buses, and if they wait, they may have something else to do.so i think it is better to cut the journeys in half which costs more but at least it takes a shorter waiting time.^=^

Valencia Tan 4Peace said...

I think that the long bus journey is better than the expensive journey because if we have not enough money,we can just sit the long bus journey. But if I were in a hurry,I would prefer taking the expensive bus journey. So i don't know what to choose. But what do you think?

kelly men [4peace] said...

I think i like the cut the journey in half because it will shorten the waiting time.it will cost more but it is worth to give more than waiting a long time.if you sit very long time your legs will be very tired when you get up,rather sit for a while then get down the bus to stretch then get up another bus.sometimes people don't like to take the cut the journey in half because it will cost more but i think i like the journey to be cut in half

Joey4p said...

I will take the long time bus because it is very long and can let you rest in the bus.The long bus can let you rest longer than the faster bus that need to take two buses instead of one.I will take the long bus because it can let me study longer than the short trip bus.the longer bus let you see more things that you seen in the sghort trip bus.

i think it would be better if there was one bus.The reason why is because if we take two buses, they will not be at the same spot and they ask us to pay more.

Bryan Lee 4peace said...

I think it is ok to kepp the long bus tourney as it it is better as when we wait at the scorching sun and we will smell the gas by the car and we need to pay more money and why are they doing that?Well never mind about that,i suggest that it is better to keep the long bus journey!

I thing taking two bus is good. I thing taking two bus is better because it is more cheaper. But you must wait quite long. but then it is better that to not waste your money like this.

I think we should take buses directly as the buses are in good conditions and it have enogh fuel to run from the eastern side of singapore to the western side of singapore. It will take longer time to travel and waste your energy if you are to take two buses instead of one.I hope that the government will change his way of thinking as people will start to protest.

Oliver4peace said...

I think we should take buses from one place to another directly. We should take buses from one place to another directly because if we take another bus from another bus stop to where we are going to, we may have to walk alot to the bus stop we are going to. Sometimes, it may rain while we are walking to another bus stop. Another reason why we should take one bus directly is because if we get off at another bus stop and take another bus, We may have to pay more. And sometimes, we may have to wait a very long time for the bus at the next bus stop.

Long-distance bus may be taking commuters from one part of Singapore to another could take up your time because the journey is long but cheaper that mean it better.Mrs Lim said that all such "cross-contry" service be up for review. Some poeple said it better to have long-distance bus.

Cut the journeys in half which costs more but may shorten waiting time if some people they work and if the time take longer they maybe late for work and they mayben in hurry or they get fire.and they maybe jobless and now is very hard to find a job.And the longer it get they may sleep and they may missed the bus.

I think Singapore should cut the routes, because if they don't people might get later for work, appointments, flights, emergencies......etc.And if the routes are shortened, we only have to wait for about 15 min or so instead of waiting maybe even an hour.

I think that it is bad to take about two hours to your destination because bus is one of the cars that gives out lots of carbon monoxide, and some people do not like to be late for work. But some people like to nap at the bus. For example, tourist like to be in the bus to see the places which they had never gone to and I think that they did not know that carbon monoxide is bad.I hope that people could cycle and not be in the bus for to long! zhi zhong 4 GRACE 14|4|'10

I have always preferred the bus to MRT. Therefore I would rather have the long and cheap journey in a bus than taking the MRT. But I will only take buses during non peak hours.
The drawback of taking buses are the long waiting time and when its peak hours, the bus will be very crowded. Imagine having to stand in a crowded bus during peak period on a journey that is over an hour. By the time I reach my destination my legs will be stiffed and tired. In this scenario, I support the idea of shortening the bus routes as it will also shorten the waiting time and the journey. Although you may have to pay a little more, it’s worth it when you save your travelling time. We have to bear in mind, that time is precious.

I would like a MRT right outside my house because I can immediately use the MRT. And I do not need to walk a far distance .But the only problem is it cost a little more than a bus. But when I use the bus, it needs to stop from place to place and I could be late.
Even though MRT is a little more expensive, it is worth it as it has shorter waiting time and you will not be stucked in the traffic jam.
I’m eagerly waiting for the MRT line at Bukit Timah to be open.

Explain why. I would prefer the long bus journey which are cheaper but may mean a longer wait because they would not cost so much money for a short journey on it. Everyone will think that a longer journey that is cheaper, is more worth it than a shorter journey but cost more money. If they are poor people, they have no money to pay for it, so who will pay for them? So they will still prefer the longer but not so expensive or it will be very expensive for only a short ride. For another way round, the people who need to work has to take a shorter ride and it means they need to pay more for a ride. They would have no complains because of the time. They need time for work to earn money to raise their family. It is also ok to ride both types of buses depending on the people. Cherlyn Chong 4H

I would prefer the shorten journey because it can be faster and people who wants to go to work in the morning they won’t need to rush for bus, thought people thinks that the long bus journey is cheaper. But at least the shorten journey won’t take too much time to reach home or office. Another thing is bus give out smokes that is bad for environment, while the MRT use electricity to work.

Because it is cheaper than the shorter route … But I have to wake up earlier in order to be punctual for school.
In this time where economy is slow, people would prefer a cheaper bus fare. Every cent the save would mean a lot to the poor.

I think that taking the shorter route is much better and convenient because if a person is rushing to somewhere they can reach that place in an even faster time. Like for example if you overslept, almost late for school and the Mass Rapid Transport station is very far away from your house, you do not need to run that far. Or if you are needed somewhere for an emergency and all the taxis are being used so you could use the bus to get over there. Even though longer bus routes are more expensive it saves our precious time.

i think shorter journeys woulkd be better as some adults might not have cars and must take the bus, and might need to hurry due to oversleeping and if it is the longer route they might not reach there in time. Same applys to school children.I do not mind having to pay more to ride faster as long as i reach my destination in time.

I think that cutting journeys and paying more is better.People can wake up later than usual as the bus waiting is less. Although, we need to pay more money ,I think it is worth it. People aslso can do things a bit longer as waiting for the bus would not be as long as before. The bus drivers also do not need to remember so many roads. The bus drivers also do not need as much petrol as before. Thus, savivng their money . the government can even demolish some bus stops as there may be too many for all the buses to cover, getting more land.Student can wake up later and not fall asleep in classes.the bus drivers can also earn more money as people need to py more than usual thats way i think cutting journeys is better for everyone. vanessa tan 4c
